Berliner is the newest airline in Jetto group, and is essentially a rebranded and downsized Air Berlin – purchased in 2016 and restructured to fit the Jetto Group and return to profitability. Hence Berliner still retains many of the features of its predecessor – including the BER ICAO airline code.

Ultimately, it was Berliner which moved into the new terminal at Berlin-Brandenburg (formerly Schönefeld) when it finally opened in 2018, although many traces of Airberlin still remain visible at the airport. It is from Brandenburg which Berliner now operates a wide variety of routes aimed at both business and leisure markets.
